GEM is a college initiative in which EFC’s students use workshops, games and competitions to improve their English and/or Maths grades if they failed to achieve a C or higher in their GCSEs at school.
Other FE colleges have adopted this scheme and all have put produced their own branding and literature so I was asked to do the same — as long as we didn’t use a gemstone or diamond as the brandmark like our local, rival, colleges.
The gold star logo symbolises the students’ desires to aim high and the rewards they get for achieving their goals. The versatile mark can be used to represent both subject areas with the stylised E & M as well as being a holding device and graphic element.
